Last week we went on a girls trip to Johnson City, Texas. On the way we tried to stop at little places that offered us a chance to get out of the car but to also see what the tiny towns had to offer. Our first stop was in Burton, Texas at the Texas Cotton Gin Museum. The museum is small and quaint but it was really cool learning about the history of cotton. Personally, I wasn’t too impressed that we stopped to learn about COTTON but it was cool to realize how much we rely on cotton in products that we wouldn’t expect. We also got to pick seeds out of the cotton to feel what it was like and to understand just how hard and how much time it took. They offered for us to watch a 15 minute video but we decided to skip the video and just look around instead. They run the gin twice a year and it’s the oldest operating cotton gin in America. You can read more about it on their website here.
