Every year as a kid we always went to the Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin over spring break. Luckily, my family has kept this tradition now that all of the ‘kids’ are adults. This is our favorite zoo! The zoo is small, affordable, easy to walk, shaded, and the animals are always out- not misplaced for construction. They even have a train! This year we rode the train first instead of last because the zoo was really busy. Apparently spring break is one of their busiest time of year, but we go every year, and have never seen it this busy. It was really strange, but we even got to see a few people that we know! It was also cold! I had checked the weather before hand but only to see if it was going to rain and I totally missed the drop in temperature that rolled in last night. Luckily I had time to repack (and had clean pants) before I left to stay the night with my parents. We had a great time and I’m already planning on going again next month on a field trip with MDO!
